Interesting that absolutely no one mentioned that there is no place for "TO HIT ARMOR CLASS" numbers: believe it or not, that's kinda important in a pre-THAC0 system.

Oh, and it's missing SAVING THROWS as well -- you might need those if you actually played AD&D 1st ed.

It's got a large area for thief skills, "notes," and "misc", because everyone can just use those during melee or while under magical attack?

Is there supposed to be a second page?

A previous reviewer claimed "This character sheet is, from memory, an almost exact reproduction of the kind I used to play AD&D back in the late 1970s and early 80s."

No it isn't -- the TSR 1st edition character sheets looked absolutely nothing like this. Nothing in the 70s or 80s (or 90s) looked anything whatsoever like this sheet.

The dark borders are pointless, and likely to use a dollar's worth of toner per sheet.

Compare this to the sheet in OSRIC, which has places for every essential piece of information imaginable, even places for armor class with various armor, shields, etc added. And Saving Throw numbers and "To Hit Armor Class" from -10 to 10.

Alignment diagram in the bottom right doesn't help me know what I need to roll to hit or save. Really a tremendous example of style over substance.

Sorry you don't like the sheet. It is an almost exact replica of Games Workshop's 1978 character sheet that was extremely popular in the UK. The PDF version here was created as the original for a very limited print run of new pads a few years ago.

This character sheet is, from memory, an almost exact reproduction of the kind I used to play AD&D back in the late 1970s and early 80s. The design is striking and will no doubt evoke fond memories amongst gamers of a certain age.

From the perspective of nostalgia I'd have given this the full five stars. However, the strong black borders do waste a lot of space and the info boxes are smaller than is truly practical. Small hand writing and a sharp pencil are necessities. Yet these were faults with the original sheets too.

These same borders may prove expensive if printed in large numbers using an inkjet printer.

Nevertheless, this character sheet is a striking and iconic design, and it adds an air of nostalgic authenticity to my retro gaming.

It's a decent character sheet but a little too cluttered for my taste. Yes, all of your pertinent information can be recorded right there on the front of it, but look at all the area taken up by black ink. Yeah. This forces you to write all your equipment and spells real small. For those of us who don't have great eyesight this is not a plus. And that silly diagram on the bottom right where I guess your supposed to circle your character's alignment...why? On the whole, if I were to make a character sheet that was ideal, it would be a lot like this one.

I first saw this item as a 'Kickstarter' project and immediately signed up to it. This design is almost identical to the D&D 1ed character sheets that I used back in 1983 at my high school Roleplaying group. The design is simplistic and practical and is therefore highly recommended to all the old school gamers like myself out there.

The only weakness and the reason I can't give a 5 star is the space for spells. Unfortunately it's not enough room to write any notes about the spell which does niggle me although I accept that is personal taste.
