As a table top neophyte, having only been through a bit of Dungeons & Dragons 5E, I didn't know exactly what to expect when playing 1645: The Plundering Time. What I found was a surprisingly nuanced, and detailed gaming experience. I didn't miss the fantasy setting of D&D one bit, and found myself mesmerized by, and completely immersed in, history. I couldn't help but dream about the real life people of this time and place, and about what their lives were actually like. There is something magical about that, and it is a testament to the craft and care that must have gone into developing this game. I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you have any interest in, or appreciation for, history.
