This gem has some great rules for solo play that can be adapted to most osr, d20, etc.. games

This might be the best OSR adaptation to come down the pipeline yet! Author Kevin Crawford gives away this jewel of an RPG for free, but had I paid $10 for it I would have considered it a bargain! This is the sort of heroic fantasy RPG I would want to run or play in.

Features include:

-- Cinematic combat and magic that makes 1st level heroes into badass threats -- Ability to seamlessly integrate old school published material into new settings or use it as-is -- Clever use of "new" school mechanics like "facts" to provide characters with RPG hooks and mechanical benefits -- Brilliant multi-classing rules

What Could be better?

-- Treatment of fantasy races (there is none now) -- More stuff! More Gifts, Spells, a Monster section, etc.

But this "game" is really the framework for designers to make there own classic OSR stuff--a template if you will. But it's a helluva a game besides that!

I can see using this to run a Planescape Campaign, and the ability to port in 2E stats without much alteration will make it a dream to use all of those old resources.

Bravo, Mr. Crawford! My only complaint? Make it a full-fledged Sine Nomine production with all of the bells and whistles!

Thanks for this amazing little game!

I picked this up more on a whim than anything else. It was free so I thought, "what the heck, why not?" I got it, and I read it all in one go.

I was blown away.

As I read it, I began to love it. By the time I was done, this game had become one of my favorite games. Seriously. For reals. It covers epic play rather well and has a beautiful system. I know that it is basically just old school D&D, but the implementation is wonderful. You play larger than life heroes in a world of your own design. The unique parts are really spiffy. The weapon damage rules are very nice, if a little wonky. The wealth rules are brilliant. I think my favorite bit is the nested problems. It instantly sets you up with a major goal and series of smaller goals required to complete this goal. It is just a bit of reorientation of your perception, but hoo boy, does it ever work like a dream. The influence system is also pretty darn inspired. I would go into details, but the game is free, just pick it up and read it. Its 48 pages. You can do it. Check it out.
