99 Novas Volume II
by Michael [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/12/2023 15:00:16

I always like compilations of NPCs. These all have some decent backgrounds. None seem overly powerful and can provide some nice ideas for your own NPC. These examples give ideas how to use the system to make unique characters

Vampire 20th Anniversary Edition: The Dark Ages
by Scott [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/26/2023 07:59:54

Wonderful, but there's some serious problems with many of the bloodlines in that they don't travel well. Lhiannan, the various African bloodlines, etc. A very tiny bit woke, as apparently male to female transexuals can be Ahrimanes, for example. Such concepts didn't exist back then, and it's a horror setting so nobody is accepted, nobody goes home happy, plus the population is too low, survival is paramount. And, lots of clans don't work well with others. Assamites pretty much hate all other vampires (and increasingly are Muslim so they hate Jews and want to forcibly convert Christians according to real world history) , Baali are Lovecraftian cultists.... Dice mechanics are easily the best out of all of the versions of this game, I've played them all. Beats the heck out of V5 and Requiem any day.

Arms of the Chosen
by A customer [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/24/2023 10:16:33

This book isn't bad - it's certainly useful for anyone wanting to play E3. It's just that I cannot help find it a bit boring - there isn't much new here, just more of what we've already seen.

Evocations? Sure - but Earthdawn did it better, back in the nineties.

Exalted: Essence
by Tommie [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/18/2023 09:29:54

A concise and delightful way to blend all of Exalted into a single source book. Exalted has a steep learning curve due to volume of content/rules and this is a great way to introduce the system to new players without overwhelming them. Also the ease at which all 10 Exalted types can be mixed together is a breath of fresh air.

Wr20 Book of Oblivion
by Matthew H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/15/2023 06:25:39

It's a good book and all but it feels a touch haphazard. It seems comprised of elements that should have been in the corebook, but there's not enough of them for it to feel like a proper supplement in its own right, everything could and should have been given more detail, from the spectre cults to the new thorns (of which there's only like 2) to the different locations it describes all just needed more time and info that plot hooks could be built on. the tempest chapter in particular feels frankly just confused and awkward and almost feels like it focuses too far on one view of the tempest rather than other possibilities. its strange.

overall fine enough but it just needed more, shame it's been the only Wr20 supplement thus far. The game could really do with more.

Ride or Die: A Compendium of Modern Vehicles
by Brian A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/08/2023 09:28:43

Who doesn't love vehicles, which are sometimes even more beloved in the sort of media TC are based on. We all can think of cars, planes, or other vehicles from movies and stories and this book will help you fill that in your games.

Definitely a good tool to help when you don't have plans of your own, or ideas you can modify to your own game.

When Words Fail
by Brian A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/08/2023 09:19:59

While some will argue that you could make all of these yourself, we're all busy and don't always have the energy, but if that isn't enough, accessories, alternative ammo, and other tags offer new options in games where you expect combat to come up at least decently often.

by Brian A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/08/2023 09:14:35

Interesting characters who are a mix of likable and not, great for interacting with PCs, or just giving some characters who might be in the background but offer more presence as needed.

Crucible of Legend
by Jason [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/07/2023 11:12:38

Honestly david is on the money. This was a pathetic release and actually removes the narrative feel of exalted. I am beyond sorry that I purchased this title I have not found a single optional rule set that actually adds to the Exalted game play experience and have found that most of the setting advice just makes the stories bland. Sorry but this gets a 1 and makes me terrified by what onyx path will do with the rest of the splats.

M20 Lore of the Traditions
by Marcin [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/04/2023 13:46:02

Don't buy this book, it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

This book has been written by Americans, for Americans, with the assumption that nothing of value exists outside of America. It's a racist tract of American cultural imperialism.

In order to be transparent, I'm a European, whose family experienced ethnic and political persecution.

The authors bend over backwards to rewrite the lore of the traditions, to make them evil and supportive of crimes against humanity. But it's selective, for example the book is mum about Akashics and Imperial Japan, barely mentioning their support for the real life evil of Chinese Communism. The book however makes sure to tell you the Sons of Ether, when not busy persecuting scientists of color, were supporting Japan in WW2 and their human experiments. The chapter on the Celestial Chorus even states as a fact there are 21st century crusader states in the Middle East, and it's clear the authors mean real world countries (which exactly, they don't say).

Whenever the blame can be put on someone, it's always the white mages who are all collectively racist and sexist, and only women and people of color can stop them.

This book takes established lore, and throws it out, for no gain at all.

And it gets worse when you realize how the book makes everything USA centric. The Verbena are reduced to Wiccan mages in the USA. Not a peep is said about Norse pagans, Neo-Hellenes, or Old Slavic faith. It's all ley lines and covens of witches. The Dreamspeakers chapter, is one long winded rant told from a Native American perspective. Austronesian spirituality? Not there. Siberian shamans? Not a word.

When looking for something, anything, that would be useful, one has to recognize the dearth of material in this book. It has only a handful of pages with rotes, wonders, etc. Some, like Enochian or the Kitab al Alacir are copy pasted from older books. Others, like NFTs, are already outdated as hell.

If you really want solid lore about the Traditions, try finding the old Revised edition guides. They at least offered unbiased takes on the traditions and more crunch.
