Heroic Maps - Storeys: The Pyramid of Nekhtou

The Pyramid of Nekhtou

High Priest Nekhtou was honoured in life as a wise and sagely man. He spent much of his life researching the ancient texts of his forebears, and it was during this study that he discoeved the Scroll of Everlife - a document that described how one could obtain eternal life. It is unknown whether Nekhtou read it before his mysterious and untimely death, but regardless, he was honoured in death and interred within a grand pyramid. His favourite horses were killed and placed within for company in the afterlife, as well as his two loyal servants. His pyramid sits undisturbed, his golden sarcophagus intact, although some say that his real coffin is located in a secret room, and perhaps there also rests the Scroll of Everlife.

The Pyramid of Nekhtou is a set of printable dungeon floorplans compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl game. It can be used as a standalone gameboard, or combined with any same-scale tileset.

The Pyramid of Nekhtou is a multiple level set, comprising 4 battlemaps (each depicting a different floor)
Ground Floor (20x20) - The lowest level, including some space outside the pyramid. The ground floor features the skeletons of horses, still tethered to a ruined chariot, and two small sarcophagi.
First Floor- Reached by a set of steps, this floor features a large treasure room, as well as a smaller locked room containing a chest.
Second floor: This floor consists of a small burial chamber housing a grand golden sarcophagus. Whether this is the true coffin or not, the roof of this room features a trapdoor leading to a secret and final room.
Third Floor: This small chamber, reached by a trapdoor, houses a single, more humble, sarcophagus.

Also included is a set of 300dpi full size jpgs, for poster printing or VTT

The PDF file for this set is in urgent need of revision, as it's currently impossible to print off a complete set of floorplans from it.

The main problem is with Floor 1, where there's a gap in overlap between pages 1a to 1d, and 1b to 1e, leaving a missing segment, including part of a treasure chest.

In addition, this Floor in the PDF has been badly prepared generally, as the cut lines between the different page tiles mostly run partway through a grid square, which makes cutting and aligning the tiled pieces very difficult for the final assembly. Cut lines need to fall with the overlap extending beyond the duplicated grid lines on ALL adjoining tiled pieces. There's plenty of space on the six PDF pages for this Floor, so there's no reason the overlap couldn't be increased enough to make the final printed layout easier.

While these are really significant difficulties which need quick attention, it also seems strange the cut line for the two PDF pages covering Floor 2 should...See more

Hi Alastair. Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry you've not had a good time putting it together. We can certainly revise the pdf to make it easier to use, and check to remove any gaps. Nice idea for the top floor as well. Joe

Thanks for the update Joseph. Happy to see my earlier comments regarding this product have now been addressed and amended, having downloaded the revised PDF.

I should maybe also mention that size-wise, this is almost perfect for the Mummy Lord's pyramid tomb which can grow from one of the beans planted from the magic Bag of Beans in the D&D 5e "Dungeon Master's Guide", as that has a base of 60 feet square (although that's supposed to be external, whereas at five-foot squares, this one works to that internally). Certainly why I was so interested in it as a subject, and I'm happy to stretch the point mildly just to be able to use it. Plus I've also used the contents as illustrated in Nekhtou's version (skeletons, sarcophagi, treasure items) to set limits for the monsters, treasure, etc., within, in game terms.

Love the map. Can't help and wish it was a Giant Map though with more rooms and some traps. Hope to see some more of these.

Unfortunately High Priest Nekhtou wasn't good enough to warrant a large pyramid - all he got was this small one :) A super large pyramid is on our 'to-do' list though, worthy of a Pharaoh!

Seriously, you need to get your stuff up on Roll20.net. I think you would sell a ton over there.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
