Over the last year, I've created deckplan posters for some of the mid-sized ships from my Future Armada line. For sale here are electronic versions of those posters for use in gaming via computer or with a table-top projector. These are 24x26 inch jpeg images at 150 dpi. Two images are included: the "front" and "back" of the poster. The maps are at 1 inch = 5 feet scale with a grid built into the floor.

Gryphon is a streamlined Kestrel-class escort refit for use in freelance mercenary operations. Meant to serve as a mobile base of operations for a small team of specialists-for-hire, it is able to fill many different roles. It can take the team into dangerous areas, fight its way out, and provide a place to rest and recuperate on the way to the next job. This is the perfect ship for a small team of mercenaries or fortune seekers. Though it can be flown by a crew of two (or even one in a pinch), Gryphon has individual cabins for six. There is a holding cell for use in bounty hunting, reasonable cargo space, advanced weapon systems, and a brand new ship's boat for going planet-side in style. Its sleek lines and dark exterior will leave a lasting impression on friends, foes, and clients alike.

For those on a tighter budget, Pheonix is provided on the flip side. She is a refurbished Kestrel-class rescued from the scrap yard, gutted, and refit with salvaged parts and military surplus gear. Though a bit scruffy looking, she carries a fighter instead of a shuttle and sports some serious firepower.

These ships are taken from the "Gryphon" issue of Future Armada, also for sale here at RPGNow. That product details the interior areas of the ships and provides a sample history, statistics, and crew. It also includes miniature-scale deckplans (on a plain white background) broken into pages for printing. Demo documents and sample art for every Future Armada ship are available at 0-hr.com .

You get two beautiful - and HUGE - jpeg images of two ships built on a common framework, the Gryphon-class. The detail is amazing - down to the keyboards in people's staterooms and various almost-recognisable read-outs in the bridge and engineer [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
