Ravenswild Forest

North of Fort Ravenswall lies the cold and dangerous Ravenswild Forest. The forest stretches on for leagues, and aside from a few wild and nomadic people, is largely uninhabitated by humans. It was not always the case, as the remains of strongholds and monuments will testify. But with the coming of an everlasting winter, the forest became a place rarely travelled.

A printable rpg battlemap compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl or skirmish game. Use as a standalone gameboard, or combine with any same-scale tileset. The map is 50x50, equivalent to 25 of our standard 10x10 tiles.

Contents: A large winter pine forest. The woods are covered in thick snow, and the evergreen trees are covered in frost. The forest is overlooked by the ruins of an ancient stronghold or castle perched upon a hill. There is also a frozen river that winds across the landscape. Scattered around the area are barrows, caves and standing stones.

Download includes:
250dpi A4 pdf map spread across 50 pages for easy printing.
250dpi full jpeg versions for VTT or poster printing
72dpi 140px VTT files

Note: Whilst the download looks large, it consists of many separate files - just download the versions you need.

A note on VTT use - we have deliberately kept the quality of the file high, and you may need to resize the jpeg for use in your VTT software. Keeping the file size and resolution high gives you the flexibility to use the map how you want - crop out a particular section or use the entire map, the choice is yours.

About the Printed Card Version
  • Spread across 8"x10" tiles.
  • Tiles are low-gloss, UV-coated, waterproof card
  • Scaled at 1"
  • Double sided where gridded and griddless versions are available
  • N.b. as 8x10 tiles can't form a square, there is a narrow black border alongside two edges of the map. This has no effect on the actual artwork.

Hi. I love the map, but there is a lot of overlap in the PDF pages. Looks like a full inch on each side. Is there a reason for this that I am missing? It seems like a waste of paper and ink.

Hey. It's more like half an inch, but yes, there is an overlap. It was added because we had lots of people who wanted to glue the overlap when piecing sheets together. We do provide a full poster sized jpeg. You can get that printed fully at a print shop, or printed as separate sheets by them. You can also use free software like Posterazr to cut up large images into page sized pieces with no overlap, if that's what's best for you :)

If you print at the default scaling (where each square is 2.8cm), the 50x50 map will be 140cm x 140cm

Try again. Previews not working tend to be temporary server issues

Strange. I'll check with Drivethru. The files are fine - but for some reason the preview doesn't seem happy :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
